Misbah Khar highlights importance of women’s leadership in diplomacy

Islamabad, July 2,2026: Advisor to the Chairman Senate and Ambassador of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), Ms. Misbah Khar, emphasized the transformative role of women in diplomacy while addressing as a Chief Guest at a ceremony organized by the Pakistan Overseas Women Association (POWA) to mark the International Day of Women in Diplomacy.

Addressing diplomats, distinguished guests, and members of the diplomatic community, Ms. Khar praised POWA for recognizing the contributions of women who have dedicated their efforts to promoting dialogue, peace, and international cooperation.

She observed that women have excelled in every sphere of life and continue to play an increasingly important role in diplomacy, governance, humanitarian action, climate advocacy, and international engagement. Stressing the importance of resilience, character, and unity among women, she encouraged women to remain steadfast in pursuing their goals and leadership aspirations.

Ms. Khar noted that Pakistan takes pride in the achievements of its women diplomats and leaders who have represented the country with distinction on the global stage. She paid tribute to pioneering Pakistani women whose contributions have strengthened the country’s image and advanced international cooperation.

Highlighting the growing significance of parliamentary diplomacy, she said that dialogue among legislators and parliamentary friendship groups serves as an effective platform for building trust, strengthening bilateral relations, and addressing common global challenges. She added that women leaders and parliamentarians continue to make valuable contributions to these efforts.

Reaffirming the Parliament of Pakistan’s commitment to women’s empowerment, Ms. Khar said that greater participation of women in diplomatic and decision-making processes is essential for achieving inclusive, sustainable, and equitable outcomes.

Congratulating the award recipients, she termed the recognition of distinguished women diplomats a tribute to their achievements and called for continued efforts to create greater opportunities for future generations of women leaders.
