Islamabad, July 2,2026: Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, has departed for Iran to attend the official funeral ceremony of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, scheduled to be held in Tehran on July 3, 2026. The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Majlis) of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Amongst others, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi is also part of the delegation.

Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani stated that, on behalf of the Senate of Pakistan and in his personal capacity, he extends heartfelt condolences to the Parliament, Government, and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Chairman Senate said that the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was a leader of exceptional vision, wisdom, and statesmanship who guided his country with dignity and honor. He remarked that with his passing, Iran has lost a great leader, Pakistan has lost a sincere friend, and the Muslim Ummah has been deprived of a farsighted and influential statesman.

Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani further stated that Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei’s services, leadership, and contributions to the Muslim world will be remembered for generations. He prayed that Almighty Allah may grant the departed soul the highest ranks in Jannah and give strength and patience to the people of Iran to bear this irreparable loss.
