Doha, July 13, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday undertook a day-long visit to Doha to personally convey condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan following the passing of Qatar’s Father Amir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The prime minister was accompanied by former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and other senior officials.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz and the Pakistani delegation called on the Amir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and expressed their heartfelt condolences over the demise of the Father Amir.
Paying tribute to the late leader, Prime Minister Shehbaz praised Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s visionary leadership, statesmanship and lasting contributions to Qatar’s remarkable transformation, as well as his role in promoting regional peace, stability and development.
The prime minister also recalled the late Father Amir’s warmth, kindness and enduring affection for Pakistan, highlighting his many memorable visits to the country over the years.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar during their time of grief, Prime Minister Shehbaz prayed that Allah Almighty grant the departed leader the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdaus and give strength to the royal family and the people of Qatar to bear the irreparable loss.
His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and the accompanying delegation for travelling to Doha to personally offer condolences.
The Qatari Amir described the gesture as a reflection of the deep-rooted fraternal ties and longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Qatar.
