Islamabad, July 13, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday met Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL) Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for the organization’s efforts to promote moderation, Muslim unity and interfaith harmony.
Dr. Al-Issa called on the prime minister at the Prime Minister House following his participation in the two-day OIC Ministerial Conference on Women held in Islamabad.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Members of the National Assembly Farah Naz Akbar and Zeb Jaffar, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Saeed Al Malky were present during the meeting.
Welcoming the visiting dignitary, Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked Dr. Al-Issa for attending the OIC conference and praised the Muslim World League’s contributions to projecting the true and moderate image of Islam, strengthening unity among the Muslim Ummah and promoting tolerance, fraternity and interfaith dialogue worldwide.
The prime minister also commended Dr. Al-Issa’s leadership in expanding the League’s global outreach and reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for its initiatives.
Highlighting the challenges facing the Muslim world, Prime Minister Shehbaz underscored the importance of the MWL’s efforts to promote religious dialogue and cooperation, particularly in light of the evolving regional situation involving Iran and the Gulf states, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the broader issues confronting Muslim communities around the world.
He recalled Dr. Al-Issa’s previous visits to Pakistan, including his role in hosting the International Summit on Girls’ Education in Islamabad, and expressed satisfaction over the growing collaboration between Pakistan and the Muslim World League in the fields of education, interfaith harmony, countering extremism and combating Islamophobia.
The prime minister also conveyed his respects to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and extended his best wishes to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Dr. Al-Issa thanked the prime minister for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation and praised Pakistan’s leadership role in the Muslim world. He reaffirmed the Muslim World League’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Pakistan in religious, educational and humanitarian fields.
The MWL chief also commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his leadership in recent regional peace efforts and expressed appreciation for the contributions of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir toward the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain close coordination and expedite the implementation of ongoing joint initiatives and projects between Pakistan and the Muslim World League.
