Islamabad, July 15,2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday met Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Nurlan Yermekbayev, to discuss the organization’s priorities, regional developments and preparations for upcoming SCO meetings.
According to the Foreign Office, the two sides held a productive exchange on ways to further strengthen cooperation among SCO member states in key areas, including the economy, transport and regional connectivity.
They also exchanged views on regional and international developments. During the meeting, the SCO secretary-general commended Pakistan’s constructive contributions towards promoting regional peace, stability and cooperation.
Yermekbayev shared his proposals for enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the SCO and briefed the deputy prime minister on preparations for the forthcoming SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting scheduled to be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to advancing the objectives of the SCO and strengthening cooperation among its member states.
He also expressed Pakistan’s readiness to work closely with all member countries ahead of assuming the chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of State (CHS) in September 2026 and hosting the SCO Summit in 2027.
