Islamabad, July 16,2026: Pakistan and Portugal on Thursday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations as the two countries held the fourth round of Bilateral Political Consultations in Islamabad, reviewing cooperation across a wide range of sectors and exchanging views on regional and global developments.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Ambassador Ayesha Ali, Additional Secretary (Europe), while the Portuguese side was headed by Ambassador Helena Malcata, Director-General for Foreign Policy.
During the consultations, both sides reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and explored opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, investment, labour mobility, agriculture, renewable energy, information technology, education and culture.
The two delegations also exchanged views on key regional and international issues and discussed enhancing coordination in multilateral forums.
As part of the visit, the Portuguese delegation also called on the Foreign Secretary, where both sides reiterated their shared commitment to maintaining sustained diplomatic engagement and further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The consultations reflected the mutual desire of Pakistan and Portugal to deepen ties and broaden collaboration in areas of shared interest, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
