Islamabad, July 20, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday congratulated Spain on winning the FIFA World Cup 2026, praising the team’s outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
In a statement, the Prime Minister said the Spanish national team displayed exceptional skill, unity, discipline and teamwork on its way to lifting football’s biggest prize.
He also congratulated US President Donald Trump and the people of the United States on the successful hosting of the tournament, describing the arrangements as exceptional.
The Prime Minister further appreciated the governments and people of Mexico and Canada for their partnership in co-hosting the FIFA World Cup and contributing to the successful staging of the historic event.
Shehbaz Sharif also commended FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the entire FIFA team for organizing the global sporting spectacle, saying the tournament would further strengthen football’s status as a truly global sport.
He said the FIFA World Cup once again demonstrated that sport is a universal language capable of transcending borders and bringing people together.
The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the spirit of friendship, unity and mutual respect promoted by the tournament would continue to inspire nations long after the final whistle.
