Tarouba, July 20, 2026: Centuries from Babar Azam and Azan Awais, complemented by valuable contributions from Shan Masood and Abdullah Fazal, propelled Pakistan into a commanding position on the second day of their three-day warm-up match against the West Indies XI at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
Resuming on their overnight score of 184-2 in 60.4 overs, Pakistan advanced to 455-4 in 136.5 overs, with the top order delivering an impressive batting performance ahead of the two-match Test series against the West Indies.
Overnight batter Azan Awais became the first centurion of the match after sharing a substantial partnership with Babar Azam. The opener retired out after scoring a patient 100 off 241 deliveries, an innings featuring nine fours and a six.
Babar then anchored the innings alongside Abdullah Fazal. The experienced batter completed a fluent century before retiring out on 100 from 151 balls, striking 12 fours and a six.
Fazal also impressed with a composed half-century, retiring out after scoring 50 from 97 deliveries, including six boundaries.
Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan then extended Pakistan’s dominance as the visitors crossed the 400-run mark. Agha narrowly missed his half-century, falling for 46 off 60 balls to Ryan Bandoo after hitting three fours and two sixes.
Rizwan later shared a useful partnership with Aamer Jamal as Pakistan moved beyond 450. Jamal scored 22 off 38 deliveries, including three fours, before becoming Bandoo’s second wicket of the innings.
At stumps, Rizwan remained unbeaten on 44 from 103 deliveries, with one six, and will resume Pakistan’s innings on the final day.
On the opening day, Pakistan lost Imam-ul-Haq early after a 39-run opening stand. The left-handed opener made 10 off 36 balls before being dismissed by Ojay Shields.
Shan Masood and Azan Awais then steadied the innings with a 108-run partnership. Masood struck a fluent 70 off 100 deliveries, including 10 boundaries, before Jomel Warrican ended the stand.
Babar Azam subsequently joined Awais at the crease, and the pair guided Pakistan beyond the 150-run mark by the close of the opening day’s play, laying the platform for the visitors’ dominant batting display.
