Cholpon-Ata, July 25, 2026: Pakistan and Uzbekistan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership and expanding cooperation across trade, investment, connectivity, energy and cultural exchanges during a meeting held on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov to review the progress of bilateral relations and discuss ways to further deepen cooperation in key sectors.

The two ministers reaffirmed the strong strategic partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and reviewed ongoing collaboration in trade, investment, regional connectivity, energy, culture and people-to-people exchanges. They stressed the importance of sustained high-level engagement and closer interaction between the business communities of both countries to unlock greater economic opportunities.

Both sides also discussed enhancing coordination at regional and multilateral forums and reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

The ministers recalled the successful visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan earlier this year and underscored the importance of translating the understandings reached during the visit into concrete outcomes through timely implementation.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on regional and international developments.

Foreign Minister Saidov appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to promote regional peace and stability, including its role in facilitating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Both ministers expressed hope that continued dialogue and diplomacy would pave the way for lasting peace and greater regional stability.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact and continue working together to further strengthen the Pakistan-Uzbekistan strategic partnership.
