Tarouba, July 28, 2026: Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas produced a superb five-wicket haul as Pakistan bowled out the West Indies for 181 in their second innings on the fourth day of the opening Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, setting themselves a victory target of 211 runs.
Resuming the day at 126/7, the hosts added 55 runs for their remaining three wickets before being dismissed for 181 in 54.5 overs.
With West Indies having secured a slender 29-run first-innings lead after replying to Pakistan’s 282 with 311, the visitors now require 211 runs to win the series opener.
Overnight batters Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach frustrated Pakistan’s bowlers early in the morning session, extending their eighth-wicket partnership to 61 runs.
Pakistan finally made the breakthrough in the fifth over of the day when Mohammad Ali deceived Joseph with a slower delivery. Joseph top-scored for the hosts with an aggressive 38 off 27 balls, smashing four sixes and a boundary.
Roach continued to resist before becoming Abbas’ fifth victim, offering a simple catch to Pakistan captain Babar Azam at short cover after scoring 18 from 63 deliveries.
Tailender Jomel Warrican added a brisk 14 off 20 balls, but Abbas wrapped up the innings by clean bowling him to complete an outstanding spell of 5/22 in 15.5 overs.
Abbas received excellent support from fellow pacers Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad, who claimed two wickets apiece, while Aamir Jamal picked up one wicket as Pakistan’s pace attack dismantled the West Indies batting line-up.
Pakistan will now look to chase 211 runs and take a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
