Imran Khan alleges offers made to postpone protests

Adiala Jail, November 21, 2024 – After meeting with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, PTI leaders disclosed that the party’s founder claimed an offer had been made through Ali Amin Gandapur and Barrister Gohar. The proposal suggested that postponing PTI’s protests would lead to the resolution of all outstanding issues. However, Khan insisted on the release of himself and other under-trial party members as a demonstration of the government’s sincerity.

“This demand could have been fulfilled immediately, but it wasn’t, which clearly indicates their lack of seriousness. Their sole objective is to halt the protests,” the PTI leaders stated.

Imran Khan expressed deep frustration over the legal challenges he is facing. “This is what a banana republic looks like,” he remarked, accusing authorities of pre-determining outcomes to deny his release despite court-approved bail. He warned that the full enforcement of the 26th Constitutional Amendment would make it even harder to secure legal relief.

Khan affirmed that PTI would continue both its protests and negotiations simultaneously. He alleged that the government’s intentions were clear and that his release was unlikely before November 24. “If they are serious about dialogue, they should begin by releasing our people,” he said.

The PTI founder also emphasized that political parties must always remain open to negotiations, though he declined to name the individuals currently involved in the talks.
