Karachi, November 21, 2024-The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) achieved a historic milestone on Thursday as the benchmark KSE-100 Index surged past the 97,000 mark, closing at a record 97,328.39 points. The index gained 1,781.94 points, or 1.86%, compared to the previous session’s close of 95,546.45 points.

During the session, 969.9 million shares were traded, slightly lower than the 1.13 billion shares exchanged the previous day. The total turnover stood at Rs35.16 billion, down from Rs37.48 billion in the prior session.

According to analysts, the market’s bullish momentum was fueled by strong investor confidence, particularly after the Army Chief’s meeting with business leaders. Aggressive buying in the fertilizer sector, notably in Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) and Fauji Fertilizer Bin Qasim Limited (FFBL), further bolstered market performance.

The KSE-100 index reached an intraday high of 97,437 points, reflecting heightened activity across the market. Out of 457 active scrips, 249 recorded gains, 167 saw declines, and 41 remained unchanged.
