Islamabad, August 17, 2026: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the passing of former Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Begum Nafisa Khalid, who was also the maternal grandmother of Special Secretary (Special Initiatives) National Assembly Syed Shamoon Hashmi.
In his condolence message, the speaker paid rich tribute to the late Begum Nafisa Khalid for her valuable political, parliamentary and social services. He said she had made significant contributions to strengthening democracy and promoting democratic values in the country.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said Begum Nafisa Khalid’s political, parliamentary and social services would be remembered for a long time.
He described her death as a great loss to her family and loved ones and extended his heartfelt condolences to Syed Shamoon Hashmi and other members of the bereaved family.
The speaker expressed solidarity with the family in their hour of grief and prayed to Allah Almighty to grant the deceased the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and give the bereaved family strength and patience to bear the irreparable loss.
