Karachi, September 18, 2026: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers in Sindh staged a protest against rising petrol prices on Friday by riding donkey carts to the provincial assembly.

PTI MPA Sajjad Ali, along with other party lawmakers, rode donkey carts from an area near the assembly to its main entrance while carrying placards and chanting slogans against the federal government.

Ali said the unusual protest was intended to highlight the difficulties faced by ordinary citizens following the recent surge in fuel prices.

“Petrol has become so expensive that we cannot even come to the assembly in our vehicles,” he said, demanding that the government immediately withdraw the increase in petroleum prices.

In a video of the protest, Ali was seen holding a placard and calling on provincial ministers and treasury lawmakers to also travel to the assembly on donkey carts.

The protest came amid sharp increases in fuel prices linked to disruptions in major oil supply routes following renewed hostilities in the Middle East.

After the latest adjustment on Thursday, petrol was priced at Rs390.79 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) stood at Rs424.92 per litre. The prices included government taxes and duties of Rs114 per litre on petrol and Rs100 per litre on diesel.

The Pakistan Bar Council’s Executive Committee and Rules Committee also condemned the daily increases in fuel prices and called on the government to take measures to control prices and provide relief to citizens.
