Peshawar, November 2,2026: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan on Monday rejected claims by party leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif that PTI leaders had failed to secure a meeting with incarcerated party founder Imran Khan, insisting that the party had made every possible effort to gain access to him.
Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Gohar termed Saif’s assertions “baseless” and said the party had pursued the matter through court proceedings and negotiations but had not been allowed even a single meeting with its founder.
“We made every possible effort to meet the PTI founder through the courts and negotiations, but despite all our efforts, we were not allowed even a single meeting,” he said.
Gohar added that access to Imran Khan had also been among the party’s conditions during negotiations. Rejecting Saif’s remarks, he said all the claims made by the former adviser were false.
During an interview, Saif had claimed that Allama Raja Nasir Abbas was in direct contact with influential figures in the establishment, although he maintained that these contacts were not aimed at securing Imran Khan’s release.
Separately, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja linked any decision on the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment to consultations with Imran Khan. He also expressed his inability to exercise control over the party’s social media activities.
In a separate development, PTI dismissed reports of internal divisions, declaring that the entire party remained united behind its founder, his ideology and mission.
In a statement issued after a meeting of its political committee, the party rejected reports of any grouping or factionalism within its ranks, saying its leaders and workers would continue their struggle for shared objectives.
The committee also discussed the country’s political situation, rising inflation and law and order, according to the statement.
It demanded the immediate release of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, provincial assembly speaker and other detained parliamentarians, describing their detention as illegal and contrary to democratic principles.
The party said keeping elected representatives in custody amounted to an affront to democratic values and the public mandate.
The political committee also expressed concern over reports that Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, had been shifted to hospital without their families being taken into confidence.
It called for immediate implementation of the Supreme Court’s order regarding medical treatment for the PTI founder and demanded that his family be regularly informed about his health.
The committee further demanded that Imran Khan’s family be allowed to meet and visit him, while appropriate medical facilities and family meetings should also be ensured for Bushra Bibi.
PTI condemned the arrest of Imran Khan’s sisters and their alleged mistreatment in custody, demanding their immediate release and permission to meet the former prime minister.
The committee also raised concerns over the arrests of MNA Adil Bazai and other party leaders and workers, calling for the immediate release of all those detained under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).
It maintained that no individual should face political victimisation because of differences in political opinion.
PTI also condemned raids and vandalism at the residences of Omar Ayub, Sher Ali Arbab and Shah Ahad, saying targeting the homes and families of political opponents was unacceptable.
Separately, the committee expressed concern over increasing incidents of terrorism across the country, describing the menace as a serious threat that required effective and coordinated measures.
It said protecting the lives and property of citizens was a fundamental responsibility of the state, adding that counterterrorism measures should not be used as a tool for political victimisation.
