Pakistan thrashes Zimbabwe by 10 wickets to level ODI series

Bulawayo, November 26, 2024-Pakistan delivered a dominant performance in the second ODI, defeating Zimbabwe by 10 wickets to level the series 1-1 with one match remaining.

In the match played at Bulawayo, Zimbabwe set a modest target of 146 runs, which Pakistan’s openers chased down effortlessly in just 19 overs without losing a wicket.

Opener Saim Ayub dazzled with a blistering knock of 113 runs off 62 balls, featuring 17 fours and 3 sixes. His partner, Abdullah Shafique, provided steady support with an unbeaten 32.

Earlier, Pakistan’s bowlers laid the foundation for victory with a strong start, dismissing Zimbabwe’s openers for just 23 runs. The first wicket fell at 1.3 overs, and the second followed at 3.5 overs. Salman Ali Agha claimed three key wickets in the middle overs, reducing Zimbabwe to 97 for 5 in 20.2 overs.

Abrar Ahmed led the bowling attack with four wickets, while Salman Ali Agha picked up three. Saim Ayub and Faisal Akram contributed with one wicket each, bowling out Zimbabwe for 145 in the 33rd over.

Zimbabwe’s Dion Myers top-scored with 33 runs, while Sean Williams and captain Craig Ervine chipped in with 31 and 18 runs, respectively.

For his remarkable innings, Saim Ayub was named Player of the Match. With the series now tied at 1-1, the third and final match will serve as the decider, scheduled to be played on November 28 in Bulawayo.
