Dar reviews implementation of fuel relief scheme for deserving citizens

Islamabad, October 9,2026: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired a joint meeting of the National Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy Scheme and the Committee on Media Management for the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Scheme to review implementation arrangements and public outreach.

The meeting reviewed the operational status of the targeted fuel subsidy scheme, its targeting mechanisms and implementation strategy, along with the media communication plan to ensure widespread public awareness and effective outreach.

Dar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing targeted fuel relief to deserving segments of society in line with the prime minister’s directives to maximize relief for ordinary citizens.

He directed the relevant authorities to ensure effective coordination between federal ministries and provincial governments, smooth implementation, efficient resource allocation and a comprehensive public awareness campaign.

The deputy prime minister also appreciated the input and cooperation of the provincial governments, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) in advancing the scheme.

The meeting was attended by the federal ministers for climate change, petroleum, and information technology and telecommunication; the minister of state for finance; Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa; and senior officials from provincial governments, AJK, GB and the relevant ministries.
