Islamabad, October 13,2026: Dr. Akbar Niazi Teaching Hospital has successfully managed a high-risk pregnancy, delivering three healthy baby boys to an Islamabad resident under the Prime Minister’s National Health Program, with the entire treatment provided free of cost.
Following the tragic fire at a government hospital, which claimed the lives of 14 newborns, ANTH has stepped up efforts to support the government by accommodating additional gynaecology cases and helping ease the burden on public-sector healthcare facilities.
The delivery marked the first childbirth for the 29 years old mother, who has been married for two years. The three newborns weighed 2.0, 2.4 and 2.3 kilograms, respectively. Both the mother and her babies are healthy and doing well under medical supervision.
The case was managed by a specialized medical team under the supervision of Dr. Bushra Kant, Head of ANTH’s Gynecology Department at ANTH, ensuring safe delivery and appropriate care for the mother and newborns.
Dr. Kant said the hospital was equipped to manage complex maternal cases through round-the-clock gynaecology services, emergency operation theatres, experienced specialists and an advanced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
She added that these facilities enabled the hospital to provide timely, specialized care for high-risk pregnancies while prioritizing the safety of mothers and newborns.
The successful delivery highlights the importance of accessible maternal healthcare and the role of public healthcare financing initiatives in helping families obtain essential medical treatment without financial burden.
Through its specialized services and support under the Prime Minister’s National Health Program, ANTH continues to contribute to efforts to improve healthcare access and strengthen the broader healthcare system in Islamabad.
