ISLAMABAD, November 29, 2024 – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their struggle for self-determination as the world marked the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to standing by the resilient Palestinian people, who have endured decades of oppression. Speaking to Radio Pakistan, the PM condemned the “unending genocidal violence” inflicted by Israeli forces, describing the situation as a “blatant slaughter of innocent men, women, and children” in occupied Palestine.

President Zardari’s message

President Asif Ali Zardari, in his solidarity message, strongly denounced the continued aggression by Israel and urged the global community to act decisively to halt the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

“The global conscience cannot ignore the plight of millions facing unprecedented hardships due to Israeli occupation,” said Zardari. He stressed that the prolonged occupation and Israel’s disregard for international law remain the primary obstacles to achieving peace in the region.

Ongoing crisis in Gaza

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen, with medics reporting that at least 26 Palestinians were killed on Thursday alone as Israeli forces intensified bombings in central Gaza and advanced deeper into northern and southern areas of the enclave.

According to Reuters, the Israeli military offensive has claimed nearly 44,200 lives and displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza at least once.

Pakistan’s Call for Global Action Both leaders called on the international community to take urgent steps to ensure an immediate ceasefire, halt the violence, and support the Palestinian people in their struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice. They reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to championing the cause of Palestine on global platforms.
