Bulawayo, December 3, 2024 –Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Sufiyan Muqeem etched his name in the record books by surpassing Umar Gul’s legendary T20 bowling figures. Muqeem achieved the feat during the second match of the three-game series against Zimbabwe, delivering a stunning five-wicket haul to restrict the hosts to just 57 runs.

In a spell of sheer dominance, Muqeem dismissed Ryan Burl, Clive Madande, Tashinga Musekiwa, Wellington Masakadza, and Richard Ngarava, conceding only three runs in 2.4 overs. His figures of 5 for 3 now stand as the best-ever T20 bowling performance by a Pakistani bowler, eclipsing Gul’s previous record of 5 for 5 in three overs.

Muqeem also joins an elite club of Pakistani cricketers to take a five-wicket haul in T20 internationals, alongside Umar Gul and Imad Wasim. His remarkable performance not only secured a commanding victory for Pakistan but also reaffirmed his status as a rising star in international cricket.
