Riyadh, December 3, 2024- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) called for urgent international collaboration to address the growing global water crisis during their speeches at the One Water Summit on Tuesday.

Highlighting the severe challenges posed by drought and water resource mismanagement, both leaders emphasized the importance of sustainable water management practices and collective action.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif drew attention to the devastating impact of water scarcity, particularly in Pakistan, stating:
“Water shortage is the biggest issue in the world. Efforts to improve the water sector are essential.”

He also referenced the destruction caused by flash floods in Pakistan, noting:
“Floods caused devastation in Pakistan, and global measures are needed to address water shortages effectively.”

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman echoed these concerns, welcoming attendees to the Kingdom and describing the water crisis as a severe global challenge. He remarked:
“The global community must work together to resolve the water shortage issue.”

The crown prince further outlined the summit’s focus on securing water reserves and combating drought, emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to addressing these pressing issues.

The One Water Summit brought together global leaders and experts to explore strategies for sustainable water resource management and combat the growing threats of water scarcity worldwide.
