Islamabad (IPS): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has advised President Asif Ali Zardari to convene a joint session of Parliament.

According to parliamentary sources, the Prime Minister has proposed that the joint session be held on December 17 at 11:00 AM. The session is expected to include the approval of eight bills, including one The Societies Registration (Amendment) Act, 2024, concerning the registration of religious seminaries (madaris).

Sources indicate that consultations between the government and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) (JUI-F) are ongoing regarding the new bill on madaris registration.

It is noteworthy that President Zardari had previously raised objections to the proposed madaris bill and returned it for reconsideration.

The upcoming session is anticipated to address these concerns and move towards finalizing the legislation.
