Peshawar, December 19, 2024: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has summoned an apex committee meeting on Friday to address the escalating unrest in the Kurram district.

The meeting, which will be chaired by the chief minister, is set to include both civil and military leadership. The primary agenda will be to assess the deteriorating law and order situation in Kurram and evaluate measures taken by the provincial government to restore peace.

The apex committee aims to devise a comprehensive strategy to ensure lasting stability in the troubled region.

Earlier, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Saif criticized the federal government for its silence on the worsening crisis in Kurram.

In a statement, Saif accused the government of neglecting Kurram as if it were “a part of Afghanistan, not Pakistan.” He alleged that the federal authorities were fueling divisions through racial profiling and sectarianism.

He further remarked, “The federal government seems disinterested in Kurram’s plight. Someone should remind Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi that his jurisdiction extends beyond Islamabad and includes all parts of Pakistan.”

The meeting underscores the provincial government’s efforts to address the volatile situation in Kurram and restore peace in the region.
