Rawalpindi, January 15,2025: The formal trial of the GHQ attack case has commenced, with key prosecution witnesses recording their statements and presenting evidence in the presence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.

The trial, concerning the May 9 GHQ attack, was held at Adiala Jail under the supervision of Judge Amjad Ali Shah. Four eyewitnesses for the prosecution, including ASI Saqib and constables Shakeel, Sajjad, and Yasir from the Rawalpindi police, recorded their testimonies and submitted crucial evidence in court.

The evidence presented by the witnesses included a helmet seized from the Anti-Riot Force, petrol bombs, broken pieces of martyrs’ statues, and mobile phones recovered from the accused. Additionally, sticks, flags, PTI caps, matchboxes, and wires seized from the accused were also submitted as evidence during the proceedings.

During the trial, the first eyewitness identified several accused individuals in the courtroom, including Raja Basharat. The witness claimed that Raja Basharat led the protest outside GHQ and incited the demonstrators, urging them to avenge PTI founder Imran Khan’s arrest by targeting the military.

The courtroom was packed with the accused, their legal representatives, the prosecution team, and media personnel. A heated exchange of words occurred between the defense lawyers and the prosecution team during the proceedings.

Due to the noise caused by the accused in the courtroom, the court utilized a sound system and issued warnings to maintain order. The witnesses’ testimonies were also recorded through the sound system. PTI founder Imran Khan was present in the courtroom during the witness testimonies.

The court has summoned five additional prosecution witnesses for the next hearing and adjourned the proceedings of the GHQ attack case until Saturday, January 18.
