Islamabad, January 20, 2025: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb departed for Davos, Switzerland, on Monday to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 Annual Meeting, scheduled from January 20 to 24.

During his visit, the finance minister will engage with political, trade, and business leaders from various countries, as well as representatives of international organizations. According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance, Aurangzeb will showcase Pakistan’s economic outlook and participate in multiple high-level sessions and discussions.

The statement highlighted his role as a panelist in key discussions. One session will focus on the growing burden of global debt on developing economies, where he will share insights on building resilient economies through changes in fiscal policies and debt sustainability. Another session will explore the transformative impact of emerging technologies, particularly AI and automation, on trade, investment, and achieving equitable economic growth through these advancements.

The finance minister is also scheduled to meet ministerial delegations from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Qatar to discuss bilateral economic cooperation.

Additionally, Aurangzeb will take part in two special discussions titled “Digital Pakistan” and “Investment in Pakistan,” both organized by the Pathfinder Group to promote the country’s investment potential and digital initiatives.

The 55th WEF Annual Meeting, held under the theme “Collaborating to Stay Ahead of the Era of Smart Technologies,” will host several heads of state and government, private sector leaders, youth representatives, and members of civil society. Over 1,000 high-level participants from academic and business communities will also join the forum.
