Karachi, February 1, 2025: An accountability court has accepted a reference against Bahria Town Karachi and issued summons for 33 accused individuals to appear in court on February 25.

According to exclusive details available to SUB NEWS, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a reference regarding illegal land allotments in Bahria Town Karachi. The reference names several high-profile individuals, including business tycoon Malik Riaz, former Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, former minister Sharjeel Memon, senior members of the Board of Revenue, former Secretary of Land Utilization Javed Hanif, former Director General of MDA, and former Deputy Commissioner of Malir Qazi Jan Muhammad, among others.

The court has formally accepted the reference and issued notices to all accused to appear on February 25.

The NAB reference alleges that the accused colluded to provide unlawful benefits to Bahria Town Karachi. It states that the former DG of MDA violated the Malir Development Act by initiating an unauthorized survey of 43 dehs (land units). Furthermore, the accused allegedly orchestrated the illegal transfer of 17,601 acres of government land to Bahria Town Karachi, causing a financial loss of over Rs 708.88 billion to the national treasury.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recently launched an extensive investigation into Bahria Town Karachi’s management following multiple complaints of fraud and embezzlement.
