Islamabad, February 1, 2025: The National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) have increased toll rates for vehicles operating without the mandatory M-Tag, effective from today (February 1).

Authorities had earlier urged commuters to obtain the M-Tag free of charge by January 31 to avoid additional charges.

Starting Saturday, vehicles without an M-Tag or with insufficient balance will be subject to a 25% surcharge on the standard toll fee, with a minimum charge of Rs 50.

The National Highways Authority (NHA) issued a notification under Section 10(2) vii of the NHA Act 1991 (amended in 2001), stating:

“In order to implement a 100% M-Tag regime on all motorways in the country, vehicles without M-Tag or those with low balance/cash payments shall be required to pay an additional toll of 25% over and above the original toll rate, with a minimum capping of Rs 50, effective February 1, 2025.”

The decision aims to streamline toll collection, reduce congestion, and enhance efficiency on motorways across Pakistan.
