Islamabad, February 12, 2025: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to maximize the peaceful use of nuclear technology for the benefit of both the country and the global community.

The reaffirmation came during a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi, who paid a courtesy visit to the Prime Minister at the PM House.

Discussions focused on the peaceful applications of nuclear technology across various sectors, including cancer diagnostics and treatment, agriculture, food preservation, water management, and industry, according to a statement from the PM Office Media Wing.

The Prime Minister praised the IAEA’s efforts in promoting nuclear energy as a key tool in combating climate change and emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to utilizing nuclear technology for sustainable development. He also highlighted Pakistan’s role as a founding member of the IAEA and its decades-long, productive partnership with the agency.

With the IAEA’s support, Pakistan has made significant strides in nuclear power generation, industrial growth, healthcare, and agriculture, contributing to the nation’s socio-economic development, he added.

Director General Grossi commended Pakistan’s constructive engagement with the IAEA and assured that the agency would continue to collaborate with Pakistan in the same spirit.
