Washington D.C, September 9, 2024-Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, awarded Congressman Alexander N. Green with prestigious Sitara-i-Khidmat for his exceptional contributions to strengthening Pakistan-US relations. Congressman Green was recognized for promoting a positive image of Pakistan in the U.S. Congress and for his efforts in combating Islamophobia.

The ceremony, held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington D.C., was attended by notable figures including Congressman Randy Weber, Representative Henry Cuellar, former Congressman Nick Lampson, and Texas State Representative Suleman Lalani, as well as diplomats and members of the Pakistani American community.

Ambassador Sheikh praised Green’s tireless efforts in fostering diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations. He also recalled Green’s visit to Pakistan during the 2022 floods, where the Congressman advocated for global support to aid Pakistan, demonstrating his commitment to justice and equity.

In his acceptance speech, Congressman Green expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan, calling it a continuation of the bond between the two countries. He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong people-to-people connections and pledged to continue working towards deepening relations between Pakistan and the U.S.

Ambassador Sheikh highlighted Congressman Green’s support for significant legislative initiatives, including the Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement Act of 2009, and commended his contributions to combating terrorism in the region. The Ambassador emphasized the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and the United States, built on shared values, mutual respect, and cooperation on global issues such as terrorism and climate change.
