Mumbai, March 10, 2025: In a stunning turn of events at the IIFA Awards 2025, Nitanshi Goel, the 17-year-old star of Laapataa Ladies, clinched the Best Actress trophy, surpassing some of Bollywood’s biggest names, including Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Yami Gautam, and Shraddha Kapoor.

The Best Actress category was stacked with seasoned stars and critically acclaimed performers, but it was Nitanshi—a relative newcomer—who walked away with the night’s top acting honor. Her powerful performance as Phool Kumari in Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies won hearts, making her the youngest winner in the category’s history.

As Boman Irani and Bobby Deol presented her with the award, Nitanshi—draped in a breathtaking ruby-red gown—was visibly emotional. Overcome with tears, she struggled to speak during her heartfelt acceptance speech, thanking her film’s team and her family.

“I Wasn’t Expecting This”

Speaking about her win, Nitanshi admitted she was caught off guard.

“I wasn’t expecting this. I was hoping Laapataa Ladies would win big, but I never thought I would win myself. The other nominees are incredible, and I’m a huge fan of all of them. I’m truly overwhelmed by the love I’ve received.”

Nitanshi’s victory saw her triumph over Alia Bhatt (Jigra), Katrina Kaif (Merry Christmas), Yami Gautam (Article 370) and Shraddha Kapoor (Stree 2).

Her win marks a significant moment in Bollywood, proving that talent and impactful storytelling can outshine stardom.

With this historic IIFA win, Nitanshi Goel has firmly established herself as a rising force in the industry, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting career ahead.
