Faisalabad, September 13, 2024- Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, Gary Kirsten, has arrived in Faisalabad for the Champions One-Day Cup, taking place at Iqbal Stadium from September 12 to 29. Kirsten touched down on Friday night, accompanied by high-performance coach David Reid. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared footage of their arrival, with a caption noting: “Pakistan white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten and high-performance coach David Reid arrive in Faisalabad to witness the Champions One-Day Cup.”
In the video, Kirsten is seen greeting selectors Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq before joining them to watch the ongoing match between the Mohammad Haris-led Stallions and the Shaheen Afridi-led Lions. Kirsten is expected to attend every match of the tournament, as part of his role to build a strong pool of players for future national representation, including the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
During his visit, Kirsten will also participate in a key meeting and workshop, known as the “Connection Camp,” set to take place on September 22. This high-profile session, presided over by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, will focus on the future of the national cricket team and all-format captaincy. Kirsten will be joined by Pakistan’s red-ball coach Jason Gillespie, who is scheduled to arrive on September 22, and other key figures from international, domestic, and high-performance cricket sectors. Senior cricketers, coaches, and PCB officials will also be present.
