Islamabad, April 7, 2025: The funeral prayers of senior journalist and esteemed columnist Aftab Raza Khan, Deputy Editor of PPA News Agency, were offered at Imambargah Khadija Kubra in Tarlai Kalan. A prominent figure in English journalism, Khan’s recent passing marks the end of a career defined by integrity, dedication, and professionalism.
A large number of journalists, media professionals, relatives, and local residents gathered to pay their final respects. Among the attendees were Azhar Jatoi, President of the National Press Club Islamabad; Tariq Ali Virk, President of the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ); Gulzar Khan, Senior Joint Secretary of NPC; Executive Members Ali Akhtar and Ghufran Chishti; and Asim Qadeer, former NPC Secretary. Prominent media figures including Rana Najaf Shirazi, Fida Shirazi, Babar Mughal, Mujahid Bhatti, Sohail Anjum Malik, Ch. Javaid Iqbal (Chief Editor, Daily Parliament Times), Imran Satti, Asim Khalid Khan, and Fakhar Alam were also present to honor his memory.
Aftab Raza Khan was laid to rest at the Tarlai Cemetery, surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues.
In a heartfelt condolence message, Khalid Athar, Chief Editor of PPA News Agency, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his long-time colleague. Being overseas at the time, Athar was unable to attend the funeral, but shared his grief and prayers for the departed soul, wishing strength and patience for the bereaved family and the journalistic community.
Remembering Khan as a dedicated, principled, and highly respected journalist, Athar said his absence would be profoundly felt. “His contribution to journalism will remain a guiding light for future generations,” he noted.
The passing of Aftab Raza Khan is a significant loss to Pakistan’s media landscape. His legacy of truth, commitment, and ethical journalism will continue to inspire and resonate across the industry.
