Dubai, May 5, 2025: Pakistan women’s cricket captain Fatima Sana has been nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for April 2025, following her standout performance in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier held in Lahore.

Joining her on the shortlist are Hayley Matthews of the West Indies and Katherine Bryce of Scotland, both of whom also shone during the six-team qualifying tournament.

Fatima was instrumental in Pakistan’s unbeaten run, claiming 12 wickets at an economy of 3.97, with her best figures of 4 for 23 coming against Scotland. She also contributed with the bat, notably scoring 62 runs against Thailand.

Matthews led the West Indies with a commanding all-round display, topping the wicket charts with 13 scalps and scoring 240 runs at an average of 60. Her standout game came against Scotland, where she scored a century and took four wickets. Despite her heroics, the West Indies narrowly missed World Cup qualification due to Net Run Rate.

Scotland skipper Katherine Bryce emerged as the tournament’s top scorer, amassing 293 runs at an average of 73.25, including an unbeaten 131, the highest individual score of the Qualifiers. She also picked up six wickets, earning her the Player of the Tournament award.

The winner of the ICC award will be decided through a combination of fan votes and an expert panel.
