Islamabad, May 9, 2025: At least five Pakistani civilians were martyred and seven others injured on Friday as the Indian Army launched indiscriminate shelling on civilian populations along the Line of Control (LoC), amid rising hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

According to security sources, Indian forces targeted residential areas in Hajira, Forward Kahuta, and Khoi Ratta, causing significant damage to civilian life and property. The unprovoked aggression followed heavy losses reportedly sustained by Indian forces earlier in the day during intense military exchanges along the LoC.

The Pakistan Army responded forcefully, silencing Indian guns through targeted retaliatory strikes, officials said. “Pakistan Army remains fully alert and will respond with full force to any aggression,” a military source added.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Army delivered a strong retaliatory response to Indian provocations in the Kashmir sector, inflicting substantial damage on Indian military infrastructure. Precision strikes reportedly destroyed several Indian positions including Dooba Mor post in the Kailer sector, Sooji Battalion Headquarters, and Jabbar and Tarkhiyan complexes in the Peer Kanthi sector.

Additionally, the Jhanda Ziarat post was eliminated, resulting in significant enemy casualties and loss of equipment.

Injuries to Pakistani civilians were also reported in Rawalakot’s Hajira sector, where three people sustained wounds, while another was injured in Palyarni Colony.

Pakistan also launched an effective counter-operation in the Pandu sector, reportedly destroying another Indian Army headquarters. In a separate incident, the Pakistan Army shot down an Indian surveillance quadcopter over Bagsar at approximately 3:15 AM, further highlighting the intensity of the ongoing border escalation.

These incidents mark a sharp escalation in tensions between India and Pakistan, following a series of recent developments that have brought both countries to the brink of open conflict. Earlier this week, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, accused India of orchestrating false-flag operations—most notably the Pahalgam incident—to deflect attention from its internal unrest and ongoing suppression in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan has also accused India of sponsoring terrorism in Balochistan and aiding banned militant outfits. In response, the Pakistani military has adopted a heightened state of alert along the LoC and has repeatedly warned of grave consequences if India continues to target civilians or violate territorial sovereignty.

The downing of 77 Indian drones in Pakistani airspace over the past week, as confirmed by security officials, further underscores the volatile and rapidly deteriorating security environment in the region.

As the situation remains fluid, diplomatic channels have so far failed to de-escalate the tensions, raising fears of a broader military confrontation.
