Rawalpindi, May 29, 2025: In a major counter-terrorism success, Pakistani security forces eliminated seven terrorists affiliated with the India-backed militant outfit Fitna al Khwarij in two separate encounters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on May 28, the military’s media wing reported on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a group of militants attempted to storm a Security Forces Check Post in the Shawal area of North Waziristan late Wednesday night. Troops swiftly responded, killing six attackers in an intense exchange of fire.

During the operation, four Pakistani soldiers were martyred, including Lieutenant Daniyal Ismail (24, from District Mardan), who was leading his troops from the front. He was joined in martyrdom by Naib Subedar Kashif Raza (42, from District Chakwal), Lance Naik Fiaqat Ali (35, from District Haripur) and Sepoy Muhammad Hameed (26, from District Abbottabad).

In a separate engagement in Chitral District, security forces neutralised one more terrorist linked to the same India-sponsored network.

The ISPR confirmed that sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any remaining militants in the vicinity. The military reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out India-sponsored terrorism, vowing that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s brave soldiers will not go in vain.

“These sacrifices only strengthen our resolve to ensure lasting peace and stability across the country,” the statement said.
