Islamabad, June 4, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has hailed a renewed phase in Pakistan–United States relations, describing it as a “new era” of cooperation and mutual understanding. His remarks came during a ceremony hosted by the US Embassy in Islamabad to mark the 249th Independence Day of the United States.
Extending his congratulations to the American people, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across diverse sectors.
“On the 249th Independence Day of the United States, I extend heartfelt congratulations,” Sharif said. “We are committed to further deepening our relationship, and both countries are entering a new era of partnership based on shared values and mutual respect.”
Highlighting the long-standing historical ties between the two nations, Sharif noted that the United States was among the first countries to recognize Pakistan after its independence in 1947.
“There is a history of Pakistan–US relations,” he said. “The US was one of the earliest countries to recognise Pakistan, and over the decades, our cooperation has grown in various domains.”
The Prime Minister also underscored Pakistan’s significant role and sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism.
“We have suffered immense losses in the war against terrorism,” he emphasized. “Pakistan’s contributions and sacrifices in counter-terrorism efforts are second to none.”
The ceremony was attended by diplomats, senior civil and military officials, members of the international community, and Pakistani citizens. The event served as a reaffirmation of the commitment on both sides to bolster diplomatic, economic, and strategic ties.
