Bajaur, July 2, 2025: At least five people, including an assistant commissioner, were martyred and 11 others injured in a bomb explosion on Wednesday in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Bajaur District Police Officer (DPO) Waqas Rafique, the blast targeted a government vehicle on Nawagai Road in the Siddiqabad Railway area of Khar Tehsil. The explosion completely destroyed the vehicle due to its intensity.

Among the deceased are Assistant Commissioner Nawagai Faisal Ismail, Tehsildar Abdul Wakil, Subedar Noor Hakim, Police Constable Rashid, and a civilian. The injured were immediately shifted to Khar Hospital, where emergency measures were activated.

Security in the area has been tightened, and relief operations are currently underway.

Health Adviser Ihtisham Ali condemned the attack and expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He contacted the district health officer and the medical superintendent of DHQ Hospital Bajaur to ensure proper care for the injured. “An emergency has been declared in all Bajaur hospitals, and health department staff have been put on alert,” he said, assuring the public that full medical assistance would be provided.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif also strongly condemned the blast, terming the loss of lives deeply regrettable. “The chief minister has ordered a detailed inquiry and directed that best possible medical treatment be provided to the injured,” he said. He added that, “Hostile elements will not be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs and will be brought to justice.”

KP Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah condemned the incident and instructed the district administration and health department to stay fully alert, ensure immediate medical care for the victims, and deploy all available resources to manage the emergency.
