Rawalpindi, June 4, 2026: Security forces killed four militants belonging to the banned outfit referred to by the military as Fitna-al-Khwarij during two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to the military’s media wing, the operations were carried out during the night of June 3 and 4 following credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants in different areas of the province.
In the first operation, security forces launched an intelligence-based raid in Dera Ismail Khan District. During the operation, troops engaged the militants’ hideout, and after an intense exchange of fire, two militants were killed.
In a separate operation conducted in Mohmand District, security forces effectively engaged another militant location. Following a firefight, two more militants were neutralized.
The ISPR stated that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities in the region.
The military added that sanitization operations were underway in both areas to ensure the elimination of any remaining militants and to prevent the re-establishment of terrorist networks.
Reaffirming its commitment to counterterrorism efforts, the ISPR said security forces and law enforcement agencies would continue operations under the national counterterrorism framework “Azm-e-Istehkam,” approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan.
“The relentless counterterrorism campaign will continue at full pace to eliminate the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the statement said.
Pakistan has witnessed an uptick in militant activity in recent years, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, prompting intensified intelligence-based operations by security forces across affected regions.
