Islamabad, July 11, 2025: In a noteworthy development, the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) Secretariat has welcomed Abdul Basit Khan — a distinguished senior bureaucrat, seasoned media analyst, and former PTV actor — as its new Advisor Media. The appointment was formally marked by the Honourable FTO Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah, who also presented the FTO Annual Report 2024 to Mr. Khan during a ceremony at the Secretariat.
Abdul Basit Khan brings with him a unique combination of over four decades of public service and a celebrated presence on Pakistan Television. His impressive administrative career includes key roles such as Additional Secretary at the Ministry of National Food Security, Executive Director at the National Institute of Population Studies (NIPS), and senior appointments within the Federal Insurance, Provincial and Federal Ombudsman offices.
Alongside his civil service contributions, Khan is fondly remembered for his compelling performances on PTV dramas in the late 1990s, making him a rare example of creative expression seamlessly integrated with governance.
Welcoming Mr. Khan, Dr. Asif Mahmood Jah highlighted the strategic importance of the appointment:
