Quetta, July 18, 2025: A member of the Balochistan Constabulary was martyred and three others sustained injuries on Friday when unidentified gunmen attacked a security convoy near Mastung.

According to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, the attack targeted a vehicle of the acting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) on the national highway. The injured personnel were swiftly shifted to a nearby medical facility for emergency treatment. Security forces immediately launched a search operation, cordoning off the area to trace and apprehend the assailants.

The incident marks another surge in terrorist activity in Balochistan, where militants continue to target both security forces and civilians. Officials have linked the recent escalation in violence to Indian-backed proxy groups, particularly in the aftermath of India’s setback in Pahalgam.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed profound grief over the loss of life, extending condolences to the bereaved family and prayers for the departed soul. He directed authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured and reiterated his government’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism from Pakistan.

“Those trying to destabilize our country will not succeed,” the prime minister stated, reaffirming that the nation stands united against terrorism.

President Asif Ali Zardari also strongly condemned the attack, paying tribute to the martyred constable and extending heartfelt sympathies to their family.

“Cowardly acts like these cannot shake the resolve of the Pakistani nation,” the president said, adding that the state will not rest until every terrorist and their facilitator is brought to justice.

The attack comes just two days after another tragic incident in Balochistan’s Awaran district, where Major Syed Rabnawaz Tariq of the Pakistan Army was martyred in an assault by Indian-sponsored terrorists. On the same day, three civilians were killed and seven injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a passenger coach travelling from Karachi to Quetta in Kalat.

The recent wave of attacks underscores the volatile security situation in Balochistan and the growing threat posed by foreign-backed elements targeting national peace and stability.
