Hangu, August 25, 2025: At least three personnel of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) were martyred and 17 others injured on Monday when terrorists attacked an FC fort in the Torawari area of Hangu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair said FC troops, with support from police, retaliated effectively, forcing the assailants to flee. The injured personnel were shifted to Doaba Hospital for treatment.
Following the assault, security forces killed a facilitator of the terrorists in an encounter after he opened fire on law enforcement officials. A search operation has since been launched in the area, District Police Officer (DPO) confirmed.
The incident comes amid a surge in militant violence across the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, both of which share porous borders with Afghanistan.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), Pakistan recorded 78 terrorist attacks in June alone, claiming at least 100 lives — including 53 security personnel, 39 civilians, six militants, and two peace committee members. Another 189 people were injured, the majority being security officials.
Overall violence, including operations, led to 175 deaths during the month, with 55 security personnel, 77 militants, 41 civilians, and two peace committee members among the fatalities.
Security forces and law enforcement agencies continue targeted operations against militants, particularly in KP and Balochistan. Earlier this month, forces killed 47 “Indian-backed terrorists” attempting to infiltrate from Afghanistan in separate operations in Balochistan’s Zhob district.
