Islamabad/Quetta, September 4, 2025: The United States on Thursday strongly condemned the suicide bombing at a Balochistan National Party (BNP) rally in Quetta that left at least 15 people dead and dozens injured earlier this week.

In a statement on X, the US Embassy in Islamabad extended condolences to the victims’ families and said, “The Pakistani people deserve to live free from violence and fear.”

Reaffirming Washington’s support for Islamabad, the embassy added: “The United States stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Pakistan against reprehensible terrorist groups such as Daesh — which claimed responsibility for this attack — and in the global fight against terrorism.”

The deadly blast struck a BNP political gathering near Shahwani Stadium on Tuesday night, killing more than a dozen and wounding at least 38 people. The Balochistan government has formed an investigation committee, while Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti directed that the injured be shifted to Karachi if necessary.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both issued strong condemnations, terming the bombing a cowardly attempt to undermine peace and democracy in the province.

Meanwhile, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) registered a case against unidentified suspects under provisions of murder, attempted murder, and anti-terrorism laws.
