Karachi, September 10, 2025: The investigation into the death of Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar has taken a new turn after a police medico-legal (ML) report revealed traces of blood and human DNA on her clothes.

According to the report, bloodstains were detected on her T-shirt and trousers, though only partial DNA was recovered. Investigators noted that Humaira’s remains were skeletal, with no soft tissues or organs found, making it impossible to establish a medical cause of death.

The report added that no intoxicants or poisons were detected. Police sources said progress was hampered by the absence of a national blood and DNA database, which could have aided the probe.

Humaira’s decomposed body was discovered on July 8, 2025, inside her DHA Phase VI apartment, nearly nine months after her suspected death. The flat was opened by police and a court-appointed bailiff following months of unpaid rent.

Initially treated as an unattended death, suspicions of foul play deepened after forensic teams found blood traces in the bedroom and bathroom and sea salt scattered around the room, allegedly used to suppress odor.

Last month, a Karachi sessions court ordered police to register a murder case, calling the circumstances “suspicious.” The order followed a petition by the family’s lawyer, shifting the case from a silent tragedy to a potential homicide inquiry.

Humaira, originally from Lahore, had lived alone in Karachi’s Ittehad Commercial area for seven years while pursuing her acting career.
