Chengdu, September 12, 2025: President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Chengdu on Friday, beginning a 10-day official visit to China during which he will meet Chinese leadership to discuss regional peace, economic cooperation, and the future of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
According to a statement from the President’s Secretariat, Zardari was received at Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport by Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Sichuan Vice Governor Huang Ruixue. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong were also present.
“During the visit, the president will hold meetings with the Chinese leadership and senior officials to further strengthen Pakistan-China relations, enhance cooperation in diverse fields, and advance shared objectives under the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership,” the statement said.
The Foreign Office earlier confirmed that the president will visit Chengdu, Shanghai, and Xinjiang, where he will hold talks with provincial leadership. Discussions will focus on bilateral relations, trade and investment, connectivity projects, and advancing cooperation under multilateral platforms.
The FO added that the visit underscores the tradition of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China, reflecting both countries’ commitment to further deepening their strategic partnership.
