Doha, September 13, 2025: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to Qatar on September 15 to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit convened in Doha in response to recent Israeli airstrikes and the worsening situation in Palestine, the Foreign Office (FO) announced on Saturday.
The summit, co-sponsored by Pakistan, aims to bring together leaders and senior officials from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the crisis in Gaza and the West Bank and chart out a joint response.
“The Summit reflects the urgency felt across the Muslim world in light of Israeli strikes and attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians,” the FO statement said.
A preparatory meeting of foreign ministers is scheduled for September 14, ahead of the leaders’ session. Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar at the ministerial-level talks.
The FO noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz had earlier visited Doha on September 11, where he met the Qatari leadership to express Pakistan’s solidarity and reaffirm support for the Palestinian cause.
“Pakistan strongly condemns Israeli aggression against Qatar and other states in the region, and reaffirms its commitment to regional peace, security, and the sovereignty of its partners,” the FO added.
Islamabad reiterated its longstanding position on the Palestine issue, calling for an immediate ceasefire and a peaceful resolution through dialogue.
