Ramallah, September 25, 2025: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has declared that Hamas will have no role in any future Palestinian government, insisting the group must disarm and submit fully to the authority of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

In a statement, Abbas condemned the October 7 Hamas attacks, criticizing the targeting of civilians and hostage-taking. He stressed his opposition to an armed Palestinian state and urged all factions to release prisoners without delay.

Abbas recalled the displacement of Palestinians since 1948 and accused Israel of breaking past commitments. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and demanded safe passage for humanitarian aid to reach civilians.

“The future of Gaza must be under the full control of the Palestinian Authority,” Abbas said, underscoring that Hamas and other resistance groups must surrender their weapons in order to unify governance.

The Palestinian leader also signaled readiness to cooperate with the United States, Saudi Arabia, and France on a broader peace plan. He urged Israel to release withheld Palestinian tax revenues to the PA, warning that delays undermine the prospects for stability.

Reaffirming his commitment to a peaceful approach, Abbas pledged to continue legal and diplomatic efforts to secure Palestinian rights. He emphasized that justice requires the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Abbas’ remarks come amid ongoing conflict and a deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. By distancing the PA from Hamas’ military actions, he seeks to bolster the Authority’s international standing and reinforce its legitimacy as the sole representative body.

The statement has drawn international attention as Abbas presses for diplomacy over violence, urging unity among Palestinians and highlighting the urgent need for a ceasefire and humanitarian relief.
