Islamabad, October 23, 2025: Superintendent of Police (SP) Adeel Akbar, who was heading Islamabad’s Industrial Area Zone, reportedly died by suicide while on duty near Serena Hotel on Thursday.

According to initial reports, SP Akbar used a service weapon taken from a staff member to shoot himself. He was rushed to Polyclinic Hospital and later shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where doctors pronounced him dead.

The Islamabad Police have not yet issued an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities said a formal inquiry is underway, and details will be shared following an internal investigation.

SP Adeel Akbar was a respected officer of the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP). He had recently assumed charge as head of the Industrial Area Zone and held an MPhil in Governance and Public Policy from the National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad.

During his service, he served in multiple districts across Balochistan, where he led various police units and earned a reputation for professionalism and integrity. His career portfolio included work in security management, community policing, counter-terrorism, human rights protection, crisis response, and human resource management.

Further updates are awaited as police officials continue to investigate the incident.
