Islamabad, October 19,2024- Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa has demanded an explanation from Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, Mujahid Mahmood, regarding the second clarification issued by eight judges in the case concerning reserved seats. Assistant Registrar Shahid Habib and Webmaster Asim Javed have also been asked to provide clarifications.

Chief Justice Isa raised concerns, asking how a clarification was issued without submitting the original file. Sources confirm that notices have been sent to both the Deputy Registrar and the Assistant Registrar for further clarification on the matter.

The Chief Justice also questioned the Webmaster about how the clarification appeared on the Supreme Court’s website without the original file being submitted.

It’s important to note that this second clarification from the eight judges, who had previously issued a majority decision in the reserved seats case, was provided upon the request of the Election Commission. The clarification states that the amendments to the Election Act cannot nullify the decision made on July 12, arguing that retrospective application of the amendments does not invalidate the court’s ruling.
