Islamabad, November 13, 2025: The federal cabinet has approved amendments to the Pakistan Army Act, Pakistan Air Force Act, and Pakistan Navy Act, officials confirmed on Thursday.
The cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, saw the Prime Minister thanking all ministers for their support in approving the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Ministers congratulated the Prime Minister on the historic move and gave him a standing ovation.
According to an official statement, the approved amendments aim to align laws governing the Pakistan Armed Forces with the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Under the changes, the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee will be abolished after the retirement of the current chairman.
The amendments also introduce ceremonial ranks, including Field Marshal, Marshal of the Air Force, and Admiral of the Fleet, into the respective laws.
Additionally, the federal cabinet approved the draft Federal Constitutional Court (Procedure and Practice) Act 2025 and endorsed the decisions made during the Economic Coordination Committee meeting on November 7, 2025.
