Islamabad, December 2, 2025: Two young women were killed late Monday night after a 16-year-old boy driving a white SUV rammed into their scooter at Secretariat Chowk, opposite the metro station in Islamabad. The teenager was allegedly recording a video for Snapchat moments before the collision, according to the police remand report.
The victims, Samreen (25) and Tabbinda (27), were part-time employees of an events management group at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA). Their scooter was completely destroyed upon impact.
The suspect has been identified as Muhammad Abuzar Reki, son of Muhammad Asif, who is believed to hold a senior position at the Islamabad High Court.
According to the remand report, Abuzar was driving at high speed when he struck the women’s scooter, causing them to fall with severe injuries. Both victims later succumbed to their wounds.
After being presented before the Islamabad District Court on Tuesday, Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi approved a four-day physical remand and handed the accused over to police custody. The remand documents list his address as Spinny Road, Quetta, Balochistan.
Police said the teenager admitted during questioning that he was making a Snapchat video moments before the crash. He also confessed to throwing his mobile phone away immediately after the accident. Authorities are now searching for the device to verify the video and reconstruct the moments leading to the fatal collision.
The case has taken a complicated turn due to questions regarding the boy’s age and whether he was legally allowed to drive. Abuzar does not possess a driving licence, while his National Identity Card—now in police possession—lists him as 16 years old.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from the accident site and are working to determine whether the boy was alone in the vehicle or accompanied by others at the time of the incident.
Police say further arrests may be made if evidence confirms additional passengers or complicity.
